Wallpaper WordPress theme can help you to generate your Photo blog within few hours with its built in auto post after image upload plugin which can generate a new post for every uploaded image.

But these plugins can enhance the overall performance of your photo blog a lot, Please note that these WordPress plugins for Photo blogging are not in any specific order, You can install them in any order.

1. Force Thumbnail regenerate

As each theme display images in different format thus it is quite possible that they have some custom image size defined inside the theme code. Once a theme is activated it will create that custom image sizes for all the uploaded images but it does not automatically adjust the image sizes of the previously uploaded images.

When a custom image size is not available to WordPress engine then it pick up the largest size available and resize it via CSS at the run time. This way it consumes lots of bandwidth while rendering your webpage.

Force Thumbnail regenerate plugin will delete all the image thumbnail sizes that is not required by the current theme and will recreate all the image size which current theme required.

Extra Tip : You are advised to use this plugin at-least once after you changed the theme of your blog. Storing un-required images is a very bad idea for your service and site too.

SEO Friendly Images WordPress SEO plugin automatically updates all images with proper ALT and TITLE attributes for SEO purposes. If your images do not have ALT and TITLE already set, SEO Friendly Images will add them according the options you set. Additionally this makes the post W3C/xHTML valid as well.

    Great post.

Another plugin I would like to add is lazy load.

Since it is a photography blog, chances are, the combined file size of all images on a page might be too much hence slowing down the page load speed.

With the lazy load plugin, only the part of the page which is in view will be loaded. The other part will be loaded only when the user scrolls down.

As long as the user does not scroll down, the bottom part of the page will not be loaded.

This increases the page load speed.

Hi Issac, Since lazy loading and base64 is a built in feature in all my themes thus did not added these two plugins in this list. BTW a very good suggestion for all other themes.

  3. hi
Rakesh, a great share again, but for a photo sharing website the main cause of worry is the pagespeed and to optimize the pagespeed we must use tiny png or wp smush for the best reasult. Whats your views on that, please share.

    thanks

Hi Roger, Pagespeed is the main issue and lazy load and base64 is already there to help us. No doubt tiny PNG and wp-smush it are great plugin but I try to avoid both of them and instead of that use Photoshop or GIMP to minimize the size of image.
